before you go … SYDNEY

The World, Rebooted ®
Sydney, Australia

(tell me MORE)

Sydney has one of the great harbors, and is one of the great cities of the world. From the iconic Opera House to the Harbour Bridge adjacent to the downtown dock, Circular Quay, this is not a one-day city. Darling Harbour is an easy walk to The Rocks where Sydney, settled by crooks deported from England, began. In the opposite direction is Mrs. Macquaire’s chair, where the wife of the first governor sat mooning and remembering the good life life back in England in the early 19th century.

Kings Cross, ever eccentric, is a 24/7 experience and its history is well documented in plaques set in the sidewalks (look down, walk and start reading). Victorian architecture abounds. Stay a week. Stay a month. Heck, if Australia allowed immigration (they currently do not) move there.

Don’t miss: Ride the Sydney Monorail; tour the Opera House (make sure you visit the bathrooms); sit in Mrs. Macquaire’s chair; sun yourself on Bondi Beach, a beach that rivals Ipanema in Rio de Janeiro.
